Every Little Counts

We don’t talk about 200X bands a lot but at some point we will talk about Franz Ferdinand and Sons and Daughters and Dreamcar and a bunch of others that all seem to have burst forth fully formed from eggs laid by New Order on a dark grey moonscape.
I didn’t think the guys would get back to Unknown Pleasures or Power, Corruption & Lies territory but, dammit, they really have, haven’t they?
The single from this record really hides the fact that the entire thing is a near masterpiece.
At the end, on “Every Little Counts”, with it’s chuckles and stumbles, that’s what humanizes New Order and that’s what’s missing from SO many other bands from this era. You can be serious without taking yourself TOO seriously.
Genius.
