I don’t know if it was a label decision or Sudden’s or whose but Now it’s Nilkki Sudden and…when I think Sudden was the primary force behind them to begin with, no?
Much like the last two Jacobites records, Sudden isn’t that great a songwriter, he relies too much of texture and mood and he’s a terrible singer.

Oh, great.
Opening with a remake of their track, “Big Store”, I so want to enjoy these guys. But, you know what? They are not great at what they want to be. Which is bright, erudite subway buskers turned recording artists. The landscape is littered with paisley retro jangle poppers during this time. I’m not surprised they disappeared. This isn’t awful. But it isn’t all that inspired either. And 20 minutes longer then it should ever ever be.

The 1984 Listening Post - Jacobites - Jacobites

Highlights:
Kings and Queens

Opening with "Big Store", an 8 minute piece that seems to be an interpolation of Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", Jacobites are a fitting way for us to end 84. Obscure, toes in the 60s, trying to bring relevance to a combo platter of Garage Rock & Jangle Pop, tired and bored subway busking. For busking I prefer Violent Femmes or Marine Girls.
I never heard of Jacobites. They don't surprise. And they've drifted into ephemera.
