I’m not much for the likes of contemporary folk music. Like Fleet Foxes. Can’t do it. Just doesn’t call to me. I don’t hate it when its on, but I tried. Bon Iver? Meh. Blitzen Trapper? Are they folk-ish? I enjoyed their name. 

I did go through my early S&G phase after the Concert in Central Park. But, that didn’t last too long.

This is really enjoyable Parsley & Sage music. I don’t hate it. I would just never fire it up if I was sitting around without 700 records to listen to for a project that has eaten up most of my mid-life.

Wait…this is their TWELFTH ALBUM!?!?!? Shut the front door. 

There is, in Somesville in Maine, a lovely little repertory theater called, appropriately, The Acadia Repertory Theater. It’s a professional endeavor but, back when I volunteered there (for, like, two days) it had a very communal feel. It was rustic and bucolic. I feel like this record would be something they would play while they were building sets, eating from the communal table, smoking weed and orgying in the woods. 

It’s very pastoral and folky and British and i don’t know they history of what they are singing about but I don’t mind it. One day The Decemberists will mine this sound and be heralded for it.
