Requisite 80s Cover: “We Can Work It Out” which comes off a bit Nouvelle Vague and is the best track on the record.
This is a mini-album and there will be more from DD in this year. What Dislocation Dance seems to be is a group dedicated to providing upbeat music for your party. They want you to dance. Whether it be just moving to the rhythms or pogoing to “So Much Fault”, they don’t write songs as much as they create a vibe and add sax or palm-muted guitars to them with occasional vocals. If the album was a lot more of the latter and less of the other stuff it might even rate higher. Also, I’m not sure, if you’re gonna start off with some actual…you know…attempts at songs…that we really need the noise-hell of “Clarinet Source”.
As it stands, however, it doesn’t wear out its welcome in the slightest and is one of those art bands that wants to push the envelope in the 80s.
This record makes me happy in the same way that Pointed Sticks did. Tho they aren’t the same.
It can be found on the second half of this compilation. Which would make one wonder, why did we start with this one and not the other? And why not do both at the same time.
Both are good questions. I would encourage you to keep asking good questions.
