The 1986 Listening Post - Zebra - 3.V

Zebra - 3.V

#512 LISTENING POST DISCOVERY
November 1986
Zebra
3.V
Genre: Heavy Raspberries
4.25 out of 5

Highlights:
Time
Your Mind’s Open
Better Not Call

Zebra really got it right. At the wrong time. This Zeppelin-esque band doesn’t totally leave that sound behind but they do keep a toe in.  sound won’t be popular again for a few years and is 10 years after it’s heyday but, they really understand it.
This is polished without succumbing to all the cliches of the era, and that’s probably why no one’s ever heard it since then.
You can really hear the coming onslaught of trippy power pop from people like Jon Brion in “Your Mind’s Open”.
Truly an excellent record that is out of its time. I know that others are going to disagree but this is right in my sweet spot
