Some quick observations:
Debbie’s first record, KooKoo was garbage.
I just saw her in concert at an “80s show” and, next to Adam Ant, Blondie was the best act…and she’s a billion years old.
Debbie shows up in High Fidelity in the rock cameo role and she crushes it (and that version of the Hornby book is everything I could have wanted it to be and more.
The second track “French Kissin’ in the USA” is written by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song writer Chuck Lorre, who also created 2 1/2 Men and Big Bang Theory and Mom and Young Sheldon, the latter of which is my 9 year old’s favorite show.

This album pops and crackles and sparkles with the exact sound one would hope for from a grown up Blondie. Just when it seems it might turn into treacle it’s own self-awareness rears its head and let’s us all in on the truth that music should be fun and sometimes dumb and never take itself tooooo seriously.

A stellar release.
