Who were Cactus World News? Irish band that trafficked in a jangly New Wave sound that kind of feels like REM meets Devo or Wall of Voodoo meets U2? A splash of REM and Connells? A lot of what we hear in the second half of the 80s is stuff that never appears on 80s nostalgia radio shows/playlists but this band sounds like they belong on one of those. The early 80s didn’t end for Cactus World News and that’s a great thing for lovers of this sound.
It wasn’t in the cards for Cactus World News. But, this album is delicious if you like this sound.
