If you took a class in Bob Dylan songwriting and the emphasis was on his approach but not about his song craft and then you learned the basics of 1-4-5 construction and, for your thesis you created a band and recorded an album, it would sound like this.
Which isn’t to say it’s bad. Quite the contrary. This is a record filled with competent rock and roll songs that more often than not hit the sweet spot. Reminds me of another Canadian group, John Rae and the River.
