I was told there would be no funk. Well, I mean, besides, say, Red Hot Chili Peppers and they would only be included because of the large impact on the scene.
I don’t know A Certain Ratio’s earlier stuff. It certainly couldn’t be any more annoying than this. How to describe it?
Why start with two funk tracks when it’s really going to morph into post-rock with horns? And then, towards the end it’s…synth rock?
I’ve run out of disparaging words for self indulgent boring crap so I’ll just say: it’s pretty self indulgent and yet boring music. With horns.
