Somewhere in the world of Fear and The Dictators are The Dicks. This is very much of it’s time. We have a guitar, a bass, drums and mic, let’s make some noise.
Gary Floyd’s voice is lodged between Jello’s and Henry Rollins or Keith Morris. It totally works for this music. It’s almost funny Black Flag. But just as angry.
I wish the requisite punk cover of “Purple Haze” was more than the screeching of a drunk encore at Emo’s in Austin before it was a state of the art venue.
Like Subhumans the most interesting track is the 11 minute punk opus. In this case it’s a barely held together jam that surely indicates what the band was like live. A rawkus, beer soaked riot.
