Thomas Dolby
The Flat Earth
2 out of 5
Highlights:
Hyperactive
I’m not going to devote anymore words to Thomas Dolby’s second meandering synthesizer love fest than I need to.
One single, “Hyperactive” (a redux/sequel to “She Blinded Me With Science”) that is not an indicator of the borefest that comes before it. The same thing happened on The Golden Age of Wireless. I saw Dolby perform at an 80s show last fall. He demonstrated song construction on his laptop. That was more interesting than his songs. Dolby gets points for being able to play his instrument and not completely falling under the spell of his keyboards and for the frenetic, infectious single.
Beyond that?
