The sarcasm on songs like “Right to Vote” is buried behind the musicianship, Nyro’s gentle approach and the general meandering quality of the songs. I’ve never been a fan of hers, she just never got me and the easy listening production that seems steeped in 1975 leaves me cold and wanting the same way that The Roches latter output did. This album is self-indulgent and boring. When Todd Rundgren leaves a project because it’s going nowhere and the artist has lost the script you know you’re in trouble.
