Highlights:
Ideal World
Imagine Oingo Boingo met The Killing Joke comic’s version of The Joker and decided to sing songs in the style of Joy Division. That’s what this feels like to me. There’s some Yaz, a bit of The Birthday Party, a hodgepodge of post-punk dance music.
It’s listenable but not super inviting or interesting after a few songs in.
Fad wants to be a jester but he also wants to scare you to death. In the end Johnny Rotten is more purely terrifying than Frank Tovey and the 80s is littered with clowns who are more effectively funny (and scary).
