Highlights:
House of Salome

Opening with what *sounds* like a surefire mid-80s radio hit, “Salome” is a highlight on this entry by the pop diva. Amidst the standard techno fare she gets in some retro licks on “Love Blonde” but, after a couple of really great pop records, Kim’s sounding a bit tired. She reaches for New Wave glory at the end of Side One on “Dream Sequence” and epic drama on Side Two’s “Shoot to Disable” but, instead of achieving Replicas era Gary Numan, she gets closer to Dance era Numan. on the former and barely scratches Warriors era Numa on the latter. That’s too safe for this genre. I appreciate the attempts, tho.
