The 1985 Listening Post - The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace

The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace

The Fall
This Nation’s Saving Grace
Genre: Post Punk
2.25 out of 5

The Fall is back with more jams posing as songs and vocal warblings. Sometimes it’s awful and sometimes it’s magical.
This is…
Well, it starts off great and then, around the 4th track we are back to the same garbage. A bad riff, led by a bass player who sounds like he picked it up for the first time and then yelling and warbling. But while “What You Need” is awful, “Spoilt Victorian Child” is the other side, demented.
I don’t hate The Fall. If I did I would have to hate my first band ever but Yeast Infection was smart enough to get out after one show and never rear our stupid, ugly heads again.
The The Deep Freeze Mice toiled in obscurity and The Fall put out 30+ records is an absolute injustice.
Screw The Fall.
