What a nice escape from the heavy handed BritSoul shit that I’ve been listening to. This is a pop. This is fun. Yes, it’s a covers album. But in such a heavy handed era, it’s so welcome.
And Kirsty MacColl deserved to have a hit song like “They Don’t Know”. There is a direct line that can be drawn from Tracey to Meaghan Trainor’s album, Title.
Utterly charming, retro without being nostalgic, poppy without being cloying, cute but never insipid.
