Turning Point
Is this Yes? Is this Rush? It is Asia? Who are Leroux? What are Leroux?
I can’t find any info about them but they sort of kick ass. This album was released in 83 but didn’t get a proper release until 89 and there’s barely a notion of them anywhere.
This is guitar driven power rock ala Leppard with a hint of playful fun ala Loverboy (although maybe I’m making that up) or a dash of classic 80s hair rock construction.
It sags in the middle as everything feels very 80s rock radio familiar but it picks up, even if just momentarily towards the end.
I’m very surprised this band didn’t make a bit of headway but maybe they just got confused with Louisiana Leroux…or maybe they ARE Louisiana Leroux…I don’t know. But I kind of love it. This is perfectly acceptable glam metal ala Triumph or UFO or MSG but actually better than anything those guys offered up.
For what it’s worth, the Brooklyn band, Station, sounds like Leroux stepped through a time machine and reappeared in 2017.
