The 1983 Listening Post - Eric Clapton - Money and Cigarettes

Eric Clapton - Money and Cigarettes

I've always felt that Clapton, while a great musician, suffered from anonymity of self on his recordings. I couldn't pick him, his voice, his songs out of a playlist if you told me I could eat caramel popcorn for every meal and never get diabetes.
This is no exception. All his songs sound like they were written by a musician so bored by his own talent that even he wishes he would go away.
He's only good when he sounds like he's trying to write like Nick Lowe and, Mr. Clapton, I've heard Nick Lowe. You are no Nick Lowe.

3 Stars but it's really a 2. So, 2. Cuz it's bad. Jon Rosenberg said so.
