The 1983 Listening Post - Ian Anderson - Walk Into Light

Ian Anderson - Walk Into Light

What is this other than an Ian Anderson “solo” record? Isn’t he Jethro Tull? Is this just an excuse to raise his personal profile and brand? The world doesn’t need that.
The Lead Single “Fly By Night” was the theme song to a TV show in the 80s. And that’s exactly right. Was anyone clamoring for this? (Was anyone clamoring for a Freddie Mercury solo record? No. But at least Mr. Bad Guy didn’t sound like Queen) Songs like “Black and White Television” are so played out and tired…I get it…you’re minimalist now…you listened to a lot of Yaz and decided that was the future.
Are these leftovers from Broadsword and the Beast? A lot of these songs start off with promise and then…Ian starts to sing and the “melody” kicks in and it’s awful.
Where’s your fucking flute, old man?
I’ve stopped caring. I’m at angry now.
