It’s weird to listen to this back to back with Sonic Youth since DK seems to be trying to achieve the same cathartic Post Rock wailing. Why they fail to hit the mark probably has more to do with their adherence to screaming muscle sounds than to emotional honesty, even if that honesty is faked.
But, boy, listen to “Cool Breeze” and tell me that Krist Novaselic wasn’t Listening to this before they wrote “Come as You Are”. Or Die Kreuzen was Listening to Killing Joke.
Down the rabbit hole I go...
