Definition of Honour

Whatever they couldn’t get done with The Sound, Adrian Borland and Graham Bailey attempt as World of Rubber.

The result is a stripped down, pulsating record that I assume Suicide fans would love.

The sense of urgency on tracks like “Fixation” and “Distortion” are palpable while the dank meditations of “Save Our Souls” and “Underneath the Glass” give me the indication that this is more of an experiment than an attempt to sell records to a large swath. But I’m sure, absolutely sure, that people like Trent Reznor heard this thing. I imagine that it’s in a lot of record collections by those who get it.

I could do without the dirge that is “Black Flowers” but that’s towards the end and it fits in with the rest of the record’s overall sensibilities.
