Baumann left Tangerine Dream, hooked up with Robert Palmer and put this record out.
You could find yourself surprised, considering Palmer’s catalog in the 70s but then you remember that he hooked up with Gary Numan for a couple tracks on Clues and his big hit, “Addicted to Love”, is very very New Wave.
And that’s what this is. A minimalist Gary Numanesque album.
I wish something stuck. Nothing does. Dammit. It doubles down on the robotic but never gets to Kraftwerk and doesn’t have the despair that Gary brings.
