Can’t Stand to See You Go

I’ll tell you what I was NOT expecting when I decided to click on the Wikipedia link for this guy.

That from 2007 - 2011 he was the Congressman for the 19th district of the state of New York.

Yep. He founded Orleans. Had a hit with “Still the One”, went solo, had a hit with “Crazy (Keep on Falling)”, ran for congress. Lost. Won.

Crazy, man.

This is pretty straight forward, semi dull rock that feels like it’s 5 years too old at the time of its release.

“Can’t Stand to See You Go” has all the roots of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” if it was recorded by an Eagles cover band. That isn’t bad, that’s just what it sounds like. It would have been programmed onto that Bangor radio station I talk about and I would have listened to it while I pressed a t-shirt that said “If you love something, set it free, if it comes back it’s yours, if it doesn’t, it never was” because Americans certainly did buy that shit. And they wore it.

While they listened to albums like this.

And that’s not fair because, dammit, I really had no issue with this. This is exactly the kind of music made for the 35 year old Boomer in 1981. Inoffensive in that same way that Billy Joel is. Or Eddie Money. Well produced. Solid.
