That first track, “With a Girl Like You”…that’s a cover, right?

It sounds super familiar. 

Lemme check.

Yes! The Troggs did it! I mean, they didn’t write it but, still. It was a single about 15 years before.

In 1981 15 years was a lifetime. Them’s were oldies, baby.

Ok. So we know these guys think they gotta open with someone else’s tune. 


It’s bouncy. It’s got that Devo hop. But it’s not nerdy. They sound like an actual pub band that latched on to a sound.

I will say that deep inside is a cut called “This Town” which is the great Styx song they never did. 

And then, Side Two just explodes in a Progger Pop tune that has the energy of what I can only say reminds me of Phil Lynott’s best days with Thin Lizzy.

Trouble is, this record is as unfocused as it could be, like they want you to know that they can play in just about any style. 

But, in the end that just gives me little to hold on to.
