The Heartbeats

Pulsator

Genre: McCartney Power Pop

3.75 out of 5

Highlights:

Look at the Eyes

Mean to Me

I’ll Be True

This one is weird. Not a lot of info about them. Why they would name themselves The Heartbeats when there was a well known 50s group of the same name is sort of a mistake, I believe. I think they are going for a “The Romantics” sort of lane but I think it might have hurt them.

The McCartney influence is all over this thing. That last one, especially. It’s as thought they rummaged through Macca’s trash can and pulled that one out and for some reason made it the last track. Were they trying to hide their theft? I bet Paul would have had a hit with it, tho.

It’s peppered with darn okay power pop songs. It never delivers that knockout punch that you would hope for.

That’s it. That’s the review.
