I wanted so badly for this album to be wacky and goofy and instead what I got was pretty standard 80s rock with a tinge of humor. They seem to have taken their cue from the Love Stinks era of J. Geils and hoped they could be the next Tubes in a way but they are really just a mediocre pub band from New Jersey.

Let’s talk about the fact that they are managed by Hilly Kristal. Was this band in the biopic starring Alan Rickman? I don’t know, I barely remember that slodgefest.

The website for the “band” still exists but boy is it a hard to nav murky mess. Suffice to say there are more recordings. And information about those recordings.

This collection is second rate Bruce rock that sounds like it was recorded to a four track over and over and, in a cocaine haze, someone said, “This sounds terrific!!”

And it does not, in fact, sound terrific.

It’s ugly and boring.

There’s a lot of name dropping of influential bands in “Tonight’s Alright” but I wish it was better, cuz then it’s followed up by the cheeky “Gonna Get Fooled Again” and you just know these guys think they are really clever.
