Stingray

Operation Stingray

Genre: Hard Rock

3.5 out of 5

Highlights:

Long Gone

No Dice

Is this the first South African rock band we’ve uncovered? I think it might be.

This operation is not the Mindcrime. It’s Stingray. Get it straight. Apparently a Stingray operation requires a LOT of heavy bass drum and backup singers.

This stuff is ready made for Arenas and, given two obstacles, they might have become something:

First, being in South Africa creates a bit of a logistical problem, travel wise to the big markets. And second, the drummer lost his leg to a shark attack.

They replaced him but, listen to how much heavy lifting Shaun Wright is doing on this thing and you can sense that an experience like that would take the wind out the sails.
