Blame It On the Agent
Someone once asked me if I ever thought about limiting this project to easily obtained US or UK albums with a smattering of Australian releases because that’s really what we all knew back in the 80s.
But, then, if we ever got to the 2000s we would have to exclude The Helicopters, Sewergrooves, Flaming Sideburns and Thunder Express and I love those silly Thin Lizzy loving bands.
And we would never hear Saturday Cowboys.
Not that they are breaking any ground or even that great but now you can be at a party with a bunch of hipsters and when they bring up some modern Indie throwback rock band you can say, “Have you ever heard of Saturday Cowboys? Yeah, they re a Norwegian rock band that put out an album in 81 that was sort of okay but if you ever find it in a record store let me know cuz I’m looking for a vinyl copy.”
Cred established.
This band really wants to be Springsteen. They never get there, but I respect them for trying. Norway is cold. It gives us stuff like Sigur Ros. I’m glad it also gave us Saturday Cowboys.
