Requisite 80s Cover: “Fire” by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. I don’t know that band. I don’t know this song. If I didn’t look it up I’d have no idea it was a cover. It’s fine.

The singer here was, apparently, Maiden’s first singer before being g replaced first by Dianno and then by Dickinson. And you know what? He’s pretty damned good. He can’t get to those super high notes so I think we are all better off with how things turned out but here he is with his mostly forgotten metal band, More and it opens with guns blazing. A title track that is a blistering guitar onslaught powered by a rhythm section that really showed up.

This band is still playing although the revolving door of players make it impossible for me to care about them.

There’s some good but rote metal rock like the driving “Road Rocket” which, no doubt, they thought was their showpiece.  I do sort of love the glammy “We Are the Band”.

I would imagine these guys play early in the day on a Monsters of Rock bill.

Or tour with Handsome Beasts.
