It’s 1981. Billy Haley’s Comets are just about 27 years removed. Think about that.
By 1981 this sound was nostalgic.
It’s 2021 as I write this. 1994 is 27 years ago. Are we all nostalgic for Pearl Jam’s 10? Does In Utero sound so dated that we need to recreate that sound?
No. Because music and production and writing has all gotten so much more sophisticated.
This feels like the kind of record that a supermarket puts out as a promo disc.
In a few years Buzz would be all over the radio with the Joboxers’ hit “Just Got Lucky”. What he’s doing here is anybody’s guess.
This is straight up Bill Haley stuff. It’s not updated for 1981. It’s stand up bass and sock hops.
