The U2 runs strong on these guys. But, the thing is, it’s a moodier, less self important sound. Like they’re actually passing Bono in the speed lane and melding that sound with, dare I say, early shoegaze? There’s a Lush or Galaxie 500 thing happening here, I feel. Maybe even hints of My Bloody Valentine in places?
I loved this. The band takes a bit of a journey of indulgences, even ending the album on a melancholy, proggy instrumental but that’s earned since all that came before is stellar.
