Love Song

It’s been a while since we hunkered down into some metal in the Listening Post. The first half of the year isn’t as replete with it as the future is about to become. And in a few years these guys will rebrand themselves as the much more metal sounding Bonfire. But they don’t get better. This is a sparsely produced, somewhat dry, pedestrian entry into early 80s metal. Like what a high school band version sounds like. “Long Way” have potential but they are lacking in something, something didn’t come through the translation. It’s not b-a-d it’s just more glam rock than metal. And it has that same flat sound that pervaded Queen’s debut. With none of the cheeky weirdness. It’s like Scorpions were a glam band that wanted to be a metal outfit.
