What does Power Pop sound like when it’s built for stadiums? Like Honeymoon Suite. Updating the Power Pop sound with a dash of glam metal actually works, for the most part. It’s not as annoying as the guitar rock of say, John Parr or Loverboy but it’s also not as aggro as Kick Axe.
The soft edges of Power Pop are sharpened. It’s almost like a sound out of time. Like it doesn’t belong anywhere and yet, it’s a perfect representative of the era.
I had a good time with Honeymoon Suite. Even though they recycle hearts being being on fire in back to back songs and just recycle the amour tropes of PP. But, that’s what Power Pop is, isn’t it?
