Just Like Me
Flowers by the Door

If this is punk it sounds like everything the Misfits wanted to do but didn’t know how to work the mixing boards to get. The hardcore elements are undermined (in a good way) by the psychedelic tendencies. At times True Sons of Liberty sound like they are a hybrid between The Doors and Suicidal Tendencies, evoking that 80s Bunnymen sound, especially on songs like “Red Shadows” and “Flowers by the Door”. So I guess Glenn Danzig was really more Jim Morrison wannabe than Ozzy/Halford, et al. By the time we get to the end, right around “Nice Guys” i can hear the psychobilly tendencies coming through and even on the truckstop country of “How Do?” and I’m reminded of The Rev. Horton Heat who I will now only think of as a copier of TSOL.
TSOL was a lot more fun than I imagined it would be.
