Walls and Foundations

Remember when Eurythmics veered away from the total synth sound that made them famous and got a little more…crunchy with their guitars? Well, this doesn’t sound like them but! (and I had no idea about this) this band, The Tourists, was 50% Eurythmics! Yep, that’s Annie Lennox on lead vox on “Don’t Say I Told You So”. It’s a pretty unabashed attempt at being “New Wave” and cashing in on that burgeoning craze. And it just ends up sounding like The Motels and all the others that come after when Annie’s singing. When she isn’t it’s 3rd rate Graduate.
The only songs not written by Peet Coombs are Annie Lennox’s “One Step Nearer the Edge”, which is perhaps the most dull dream pop song I’ve heard (and I listened to ALL of Lana Del Ray’s Norman Fucking Rockwell) and “Let’s Take a Walk” by Dave Stewart which is a Harmonica laden retro-Beatles joint that at least has some energy.
There’s a track on here called “Time Drags So Slow” and I really wish that was the name of this borefest.
