The Traveller

This thing is impeccably played and spotlessly produced. De Burgh’s songs are a combination Dire Straits, Billy Joel and Leo Sayer, and even (On tracks like “Flying Home”) he approximates Springsteen. How did the Bee Gees not cover “Shadows and Light”? Did they? I don’t wanna investigate…

I imagine that he’s a fun guy to play with, he seems like a generous guy. He really wants the songs to shine but, more than that, he wants you  to shine.

It’s all pretty cloying and antiseptic and nothing that I would gravitate to in any stage of my life. But it’s really clean.
