I never understood the adulation for Social D. I mean, it’s just Americana Punk, yes? I mean, it’s not bad. It’s actually quite good. But, every song sounds the same. No matter how fast the band is playing, Mike Ness has pretty much the same melodic cadence. And all his lyrics seem interchangeable.
I want to love this, but I don’t.
I want to hate this, but I don’t.
Such is the quandary of the 35+ year history of Social Distortion.
