Right Side of a Good Thing
Right Side of a Good Thing
Is it 1966 already?
Having never really been a big fan of The Cramps this album is already at a disadvantage. That swingin’ 60’s calliope of swirling merrygo-round of organs was never my jam. Add to it Zaremba’s Schneider-esque growl and I’m not drawn in. I can appreciate it but I liked what B-52s was doing with retro music better. “What’s So New About You” has so much promise but…I’m not quite there.
The weird r&b funk of Right Side of a Good Thing that opens Side Two is much more appealing than the 60s TV show theme song styles of Side One.
That doesn’t last, though. This sound was played out in 1968.
