When it Started to Begin
On a Sunday
Whistle Down the Wind
Take That Situation
Hey, George Michael, are you paying attention? This is what you will be trying to be in a couple years. Take stock. Nick’s doing it right. That clean smooth adult Spandau sound must’ve been all over England cuz this album is dripping in it.
I’m not going to research it but, why wasn’t this a Haircut 100 album? It’s not like they stopped recording after Pelican West since Paint and Paint came out a year after this.
Hmm…
You know who I bet loves this album? Stephen Page. His vocal style seems to be patterned after Nick’s and his solo music moved decidedly in this direction. That’s not a dig. Page One is a totally enjoyable album.
Oh, is this record still on? Ok. I’ll do the dishes now…
The luscious “Whistle Down the Wind” sounds like it’s worshipping at the feet of Andy Partridge and that’s such a welcome thing.
