As you will come to learn, the research staff at The Listening Post have a special place in their hearts for Australia. Whether it be the power pop of Rick Springfield or the metal of AC/DC or the sounds of Dunedin, The Saints or Nick Cave or the really obscure bands, the crack research team at LP Central can’t get enough.
And, that’s a good thing, cuz how else would we get to hear Matt Finish’s album Short Note? Or even part of it?
I am not a fan of live versions of songs as representative of the original but unfortunately that’s what we have for a bunch of this which, when played against the rest, makes Matt Finish sound like a wannabe Police knock off. But the studio stuff comes across as inventively fun New Wave.
Shame, really.
