The world can be divided into two kinds of people: Beatles fans and Elvis fans.
Well, I would submit that the world can also be divided into those who think The Police were great because of Sting or because of Copeland. And for you Andy Summers fans…you guys can hang out with the John Deacon fanatics.
I find Sting pretentious and that’s only exacerbated by the horrible shite he put out later in his life, his tantric admissions (emissions?) and the idiotic way he applauds.
On the other hand, Stewart Copeland wrote the soundtrack to Rumble Fish.
Songs like “Ritch in the Ditch” have me wondering why they weren’t actual Police tunes. They are so Regatta d’Outlandos they ooze that sound. What did Sting have against these tunes?
Copeland says he played every instrument. If that’s so, just…wow. It’s not a great record but it’s got more energy than anything Sting ever did.
