The World is Changing Hands
This album sounds like a record made by a guy with something to prove. It’s assured and smart and efficient and strong.
The guy who invented the distortion we all know and love about classic rock, played all the instruments on this album which is the solo record no Beatle could ever hope to achieve. I’m a bit stunned, actually, since the next year would see the Kinks drop Give the People What They Want, which had a couple explosive tracks, written by Ray but, as a cohesive thing, wasn’t spectacular.
However, Ray knows a hook in a way that Dave doesn’t and that’s why this record can’t rate higher.
