What is the difference between “Southern Rock” and “Country”? I know I’ve asked this before. Well, we are back to it, because this is the epitome of that question, for me.

Whatever was happening in the 70s to bring “Southern Rock” to the forefront is obviously ending. That love affair that was the soundtrack to every Smokey and the Bandit montage and Clint Eastwood comedy (remember those???) was ending and maybe it wasn’t a moment too soon, as the songs were just excuses to hang lead guitar riffs.

Some of this is fairly dynamic, case in point the instrumental “From the Madness of the West” while songs like “I Got a Right to Be Wrong” and “Angeline” are attempts at burning barns by guys who can write this stuff in their sleep.
