The 1981 Listening Post - Snips - La Rocca!

 Snips - La Rocca!

La Rocca!

Highlights:

Nine O’Clock

Work

“Nine O’Clock” is that perfect little missing Power Pop gem that you’ve never heard and, once you do, you realize that it belongs on every 80’s Power Pop/New Wave playlist you make.

And then the rest of the album plays out and…

It’s weird. The rest of the production is more crisp and clear, benefitting from Chris Spedding’s knob twirling, but the best song is the Highlight, which was produced by Midge Ure and is sorely lacking in that arena.

Mr. Parsons’ songwriting leans a bit too heavily on his adoration of latter day Lennon which I find less interesting than that one single.

“Tight Shoes” and “Work” suggest that he might have the Power Pop chops but, in the end it’s all forgettable piffle.
