You don’t know Riff Raif but you know Riff Raif. Cuz the Lead Vocalist (And bassist, occasionally for The Doors!!!) is Doug Lubahn and he wrote the Pat Benatar hit “Treat Me Right” and that song is right here on this rekkid.
Doug would later play on a pair of Billy Squier records and nothing here sounds like The Doors. It’s so 80s it might as well be a Day-Glo pressing.
And it’s delicious.
This is the sound that you all know I love and I’m no longer ashamed to admit it.
Bit drums, soaring vocals, there isn’t cheese on this album. No. It’s Cheez Wiz. And it’s drenched. How did these guys not score a hit off this thing?
I mean, they even got Hipgnosis to do their cover!
If what you crave is that big Squier/Journey rock but are tired of the same songs over and over, Riff Raff is there for you.
For us.
Yes, for us.
Doug wrote a book.
The website is still live.
There are excerpts.
I link for you.
