When I first moved to LA I was reading the LA Weekly and there was an article about this band that was making noise in the underground. The tone of the article was almost of a sea change. It portended that something was happening in the underbelly of rock and its name was Metallica.
That was 4 years after this.

1983 just grew the fuck up. And all other “metal” bands shriveled up in the shadow of this monster.
I could do without “Anasthesia-Pulling Teeth”, cuz that kind of indulgence is unnecessary.
No song sounds alike and they all sound like they’ve burst from the same entity. This is a strong debut.
