This…
this is….
what do I say here?
Um….
I really liked this.
It’s everything Wham! wanted to be but failed at. It’s Heaven 17 but fun. It’s Duran Duran without being overly epic. It’s blue eyed synth-pop wanna be soul. (trivia: it was produced by Nick Rhodes from DD and DD’s producer, Colin Thurston. So that makes a lot of sense)
Sure it wears out its welcome by the second side but the rest of it was actually more fun than it should’ve been.
The album is Not crushed under the weight of it’s own importance, which so many of these bands seem to suffer from. It’s not A Flock of Seagulls’s debut but it’s certainly better than many offerings of the era.
