“When the Shit Hits the Fan” is so much better in this incarnation than the slowed down version on the Repo Man soundtrack.
The real heroes here are, in deep contrast to the last few hardcore albums I listened to, the production, the drumming and the aggressive attack.
The spacing of the instruments allows each of them to shine and create a sonic punch.
But let’s just talk about Lucky Lehrer who is way overqualified for this and john Ingraham who pounds the skins with abandon therefore elevating every track to a new level of interesting.
Both of those elements come together in a youthful sonic attack that propels the record forward.
Excellent. And just when you think that’s all the boys have, Hetson’s lead guitar slashing through “High Price on Our Heads” comes seemingly out of nowhere. And melts the acetate.
When I was 8 I was in the shower in Chadwick Beach and started singing out what can best be described as an 8 year old’s idea of a rock version of “Close to You”.
These guys’ rendition is almost as good.
