Faces Are Changing

This is a curio.

Turn it on. First track. Super familiar, yes?

It’s “Change”, which was a big hit for John Waite. But it was recorded here first cuz it was written by Spider keyboardist/backup singer Holly Knight. Knight is one of the great rock and roll writer success stories.

And this record had a pedigree. Anton Fig is the drummer. You know him. He would pound the sticks for the David Letterman Band for years.

You know what else you know? Side Two’s opener, “Better Be Good to Me”. Another Knight track, co-written by ChinniChap. Who knew? Not I. And it’s almost note for note the same as the Aretha version.

This is a pretty pedestrian affair and, while I wish it was better, perhaps that it isn’t is why we got a lifetime of hits out of Ms. Knight and there existed The World’s Most Dangerous Band.
