Life On the Radio

Won’t You Come Home with Me

Lay Your Love On the Line

By the late 70s, the Rollers had shed the Bay City part of their name and were shooting for relevance. Truth is, they were always a pretty darned good Power Pop group. More than that one mid-70s hit or that Saturday Morning tv show.

This one, their last real offering, opens with such a schizophrenic theatrical glam track that one would be excused if one thought it was an early Sparks tune, the way it changes tempos and includes so many different motifs.

From there the Scots can’t really shed their schmaltzy side and it taints all the better tracks.

The title track is a driving instrumental and it’s better than I would have expected from these tartan lads. As is the aggro “Lay Your Love on the Line” and the McCartney-esque “This is Your Life”.
